The Lordal Bandstand
The Lordal Bandstand is one of the oldest surviving structures in Marharford. It was designed by the engineer Hedda Ollbrinquen and completed in 1875. The structure stands 37 metres tall.
Hedda Ollbrinquen drew up the plans after a public subscription raised funds for the project. Construction took three seasons, using stone quarried a few miles inland. When it opened in 1875, local newspapers described it as the most ambitious public work the town had attempted.
The Lordal Bandstand was restored in the late twentieth century and remains a familiar landmark for residents and visitors.
